My Horrible Experience At The Doctors Office
Wow, just when I thought waiting in a doctors office for 1 hour past my schedule appt was bad 2 days ago.
ACT#2 proves to be even worse!
ACT#2- I arrive at docs office 3 hrs ago to have tuberculosis screening test evaluated. Young Lady behind the desk decides she will read it for me. She tells me that the test is positive. I briefly stop working on my iPhone in my right hand. Look at my left arm and ask her why she says that. She tell me that my arm is swollen and that it has a bump. I tell her that she is wrong and get a doctor in there to evaluate. Dr. comes in the room and confirms that the test is positive. Hmm. nope your wrong as well. She tells me that measuring from the redness and looking at the bump that is too large. I remind her that she shouldn’t be measuring from the redness #1. #2 -there is no bump. She’s not going for it. So I cross reference five journal articles to prove her wrong. She still doesn’t buy it. She orders a chest x-ray for me. WTF!?! I tell her absolutely not! And I tell her that she’s wasting my time, wasting medical resources, and increasing health-care costs for making these type of judgments. I asked for a second opinion. They sent me to another clinic. One hour later after arriving at another clinic, the test results are determined to be negative by three different people. The medical director comes in talks to me and tells me she doesn’t know if she can overturn the decision from the first doctor. I tell her from a professional/personal standpoint that everything that I experienced is absolutely ridiculous. And that I hope she finds a way to make it work, otherwise I’ll have to report my findings in a detailed report that includes, facilities, docs, nurses, and managers to the US Dept of Health and Human Services as a case study to the numerous factors that drive cost and provide poor quality. In additions, I will send a copy to every news outlet contact in my address book to generate momentum. Well, well, well!! Some one just handed a letter saying that I do not have TB. Guess I had to threaten people and fact check them to be treated correctly. Crazy!! Thanks for 3 hrs of frustration and unnecessarily debating facts!
